It really is as good as it is hyped up to be.

 
Another place to visit if not stay at is The Dell Coronado, a famous old hotel out on the ocean that was the scene of filming Some Like it Hot, a film with Marilyn Monroe.   The lobby is one of the grandest in the world.

 
While there get up to La Jolla as well.  It's a marvelous city to walk around if you like shopping.
